Re-use and recycling
We work to substantially reduce the number of mobile phones that are sent to landfill
sites. As mobile phones and their batteries contain several dangerous metals, including
lead, cadmium, lithium and mercury, re-use and recycling helps protect the environment
and save natural resources. We provide a guarantee that all mobile phones will,
wherever possible, be reused (in accordance with the WEEE Directive).
Your mobile phone
To receive the full value of your mobile phone it should:
• Power-up (turn on) and be in a working condition.
• Not have significant damage although may have some mild cosmetic damage (general
wear and tear).
• Have its battery.
• Not be barred or water damaged.
Any mobile phones sent to us that are not listed on the website and are over 4 years
old will be automatically recycled for free. These mobile phones cannot be returned
under any circumstances.
Wrong models
Each mobile phone which is received at our warehouse is tested for payment. If on
inspection we find that the model you had traded in is not the same as the one sent
to us, we will confirm the correct mobile phone by email for you to accept the revised
offer. This can often happen where models of mobile phones look similar. If we do
not hear from you within 7 days we will automatically make this change and process
your payment on the new model.
Damaged mobile phones
Moneysupermarket.com can still pay you for your damaged mobile phones but the values
offered will be less than that of a working phone. Damaged mobile phones should
be traded in as normal. The final offer will only be confirmed once the mobile phone
has past our test & screening procedure.
Once the mobile phone has been received and tested we will contact you via email
with a new offer. Where possible we will always offer a value for a damaged mobile
phone.
If you do not inform us of your decision within 5 days of receipt we will automatically
accept it and issue the revised payment. Under no circumstances can mobile phones
be returned after this period.
SIM cards
Please ensure you remove your SIM card before sending us your mobile phone. SIM
cards contain personal details and any sent to us by mistake will be destroyed immediately
and therefore cannot be returned.
Payments
Please ensure you remove your memory card before sending us your mobile phone. Unfortunately
once we have received memory cards we are unable to return them.
Payment will be sent via Royal Mail.
From time to time we will change the offer values of mobile phones on the website
with no notice. If you trade in a mobile phone we will guarantee the value on the
date of trade and for 14 days after that date, unless it fails to meet the criteria
as stated above in the paragraph stated: “Wrong Model”
All valuations include VAT at 15%.
Postal damage and loss
Moneysupermarket.com does not take any responsibility for the loss or damage to mobile
phones before receipt at our warehouse.
We strongly recommend that all our customers pack their mobile phones to minimise
the risk of damage. The prepaid envelope does not guarantee that the mobile phone
will be received in the same condition as when it was sent. In addition we suggest
that all mobile phones are sent to us by Special Delivery. If your mobile phone
is lost in the post we will advise you on the best way to make a claim against the
Royal Mail but we cannot guarantee that this will be successful.
Returns
We are unable to return mobile phones that are sent to us and are accepted at full
price or after a customer accepts a mobile phone value at a lower price. Mobile
phones will be returned to customers only if a lower price is offered and rejected.
Please note
• All mobile phone trades are valid for a period of 14 days only; where possible
we may be able to hold this price longer although Moneysupermarket.com reserve the right
to pay the current market rate for mobile phones received after this period.
• Mobile phone values stated on the website are subject to change at any time without
notice.
• Users must register a valid UK mainland address.
• Users must be 18 years or older.
• Phone(s) traded with Moneysupermarket.com must be done with the permission of their
legal owner(s).
• Moneysupermarket.com is registered under the data protection act and all customer
data is handled in a secure fashion.
